Marko Spalatin (Croatian-American, 1945-) is an Abstract, Geometric, Op Art artist known for painting and printmaking. He was born in 1945 in Zagreb, Croatia before immigrating to the US in his late teens in 1963. He would later acquire his B.S. in Art in 1968 and his M.F.A. in 1971 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Since 1971, Spalatin has lived and worked at his home studio in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin. He has been featured in over 70 solo exhibitions in North America, Europe and the Middle East. His work can be found within the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Tate Gallery, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Musée d’Art Moderne, the Brooklyn Museum, and the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art.
