Lambrecht (Lambert) Hopfer (Active c. 1525-1550) was a German Old Masters printmaker. He was the brother of Hieronymus Hopfer (Active c. 1520-1530) and son of
Daniel Hopfer (1471-1536). His father Daniel was the first artist to etch on iron to make prints and invented etching as a printing technique in Augsburg, Germany
around 1500. Both Lambrecht and his brother Hieronymus joined their father Daniel in printing etchings. Hopfer made several accurate, but inexpensive,
reproductive prints during his life, many of which after Albrecht Dürer's work. This demonstrates the popularity of Dürer's prints and how Hopfer made them
accessible and affordable for everyone by reproducing them.
